The map on the bottom shows a simplified version of the Monash University Clayton Campus electricity network map.
The network is separated into three "rings" that are different sections of the grid (colour coded on the map). High-voltage transmission lines connect to electrical substations in each ring, which steps-down the electricity and sends it via low-voltage lines to individual transformers scattered throughout the campus.
All rings and their substations are connected to a High Voltage Switchroom, and it acts as the root node in the tree-like network structure. This switchroom acts as a central location to control the electricity network.
